Designing Online Language Teacher Education - Julia Reimer

The aim of this workshop is for participants to construct a framework for online language teacher education (OLTE) and explore guiding principles for designing OLTE.  The session begins with a description of the characteristics of online language teacher education (OLTE). OLTE is characterized by physical and temporal distance between the teacher and the student (difference between synchronous learning and a synchronous online learning).  In OLTE there is two way communication and there is involvement of media.  The presenters then share principles and considerations for online language teacher education that they came up with and refer to as KAMPER: They applied these principles in their MATESOL Practicum which they put online.
